Celebrating a Century of Irish Enterprise

The very first meeting of Dail Eireann, took place in the Round Room of the Mansion House on the 21st January 1919. That Government introduced nine ministerial portfolios including Industries and Trade & Commerce. The need for investment in small business was high on the agenda. This was to be achieved through the issuing of national and international bond certificates, under the direction of Michael Collins.

Almost 100 hundred years on, some of Ireland’s leading entrepreneurs assembled in the very same room in the Mansion House, for the 2018 National Enterprise Awards. The awards are an appropriate way to recognise and showcase the most innovative and strategic small firms.

IFS were delighted to be invited to this year’s event as one of the 19 past winners and the night rekindled fond memories for Company founders Kieran Beggan and George Harold who picked up the National Enterprise Award back in 2005. Minister for Trade, Employment and Business, Pat Breen proudly stated that the 19 past winners currently employ 832 people, generate combined sales of €131 million and export to 52 countries. Sheelagh Daly, Chair of the network of Local Enterprise Office congratulated a host of Ireland’ best small companies for their achievements in being nominated and acknowledged their on-going and future potential to grow and succeed in domestic and export markets.

Following what proved to be another successful night for Oisin Geoghegan and Anne Donaldson from the Local Enterprise Office Fingal our Congratulations to WeBringg from Fingal who won their Regional Award on a special night for co-founders Alan Hickey and Sean Murray. In the words of MC Bryan Dobson “The future of small Irish enterprise is extremely encouraging”. Our forefathers of one hundred years ago would most certainly approve.

IFS in Construction Magazine:

Construction Management – Risks and Opportunities in the Digital Age

“The construction activities are shrouded in information; management of the construction project requires appropriate systems which facilitate bi-directional data input, information processing, dissemination and functional access…

Information Technology permeating the value chain at every point has the potential to bring about team syncing and stimulate improved collaboration among project teams.”
